Details of published work

I entered a contest at poetry.com, and recieved notice one month later that my poem was one of the thirty chosen for the prize of being published in a poetic Anthology. I was, needless to say, delighted. I sent my reply back to the Publishers, estatic and waiting on tenterhooks for “it” to happen. Then it did. I recieved the Anthology of poems in the mail. The name of the work is called “Timeless Voices.” My poem is featured on the very first page. I am very proud to share this with America. It also helps boost my credability to be published elsewhere.

Bio

I was born at Nassau County Medical Centre in East Meadow, Long Island, New York at 1:54 a.m. on 28 October 1990. I enjoyed making up stories and drawing pictures to go along with them. (Most of which I have lost, shamefully; I think they were actually pretty cool.) I fell in love with all things Fantastical and Mythological from a very early age, especially Greek gods. I would often create new situations for the gods. I made up my own gods as well for a collection of short stories, which I didn’t finish. I attended the Early Childhood Educational Centre for Pre-K and Kindergarten. Then I went to Jackson Annex Elementary School for grades 1-3; I then attended Jackson Main Elementary School for 4-5th grades. My 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Segredo had a very inspirational, encouraging hold on me. She still does. She’s my favourite teacher of all time. We still keep in touch. (E-mail, phone etc.)
I wrote some comic books and other bits of obscure items, which I’m sure are all crusting in boxes somewhere screaming, “Finish me!” I also enjoyed singing (which I don’t now), and dancing. I learned acting at the On Stage Contemporary Theatre Arts Company for a total of six years, and completed a Science-Fiction tale called “The Bad People Wars” which I can’t find to save my life. Lots of things I wrote were unfinished, but I was determined.
My dad is a Baptist minister, so the Bible was very instrumental in turning me towards all things Fantastical; Leviathans, epic wars, prophecies and whatnot. He published a book. Then I decided “yes, I want to do that when I’m a big boy.” Then along comes Harry James Potter. I read the first book in an entire day. Sadly, my mom started heeding the ridiculous piffle spilled by Christian fundamentalists and burned the book. I didn’t read Harry Potter any longer. She convinced me it was going to bring Satan into my heart.
I moved to Orlando, Florida when I was 10 turning 11. I went to Chain of Lakes Middle School. I had some good times there. Two months later September 11th struck the world, and I wrote my first poem. It was a reflection of what happened. Sad stuff. I can’t find it. I never did good in Maths. I always sucked at it. I finished my seventh grade year, and came back up to New York for my cousin’s grandfather’s funeral.
My mother decided to let me be enroled at a parochial school while she finished her music degree. So I went to Epiphany Lutheran Parochial School for eighth grade. Then the boy wizard stepped back into my life. I re-read the first book in one day, then I read Chamber of Secrets in about 2 days. Prisoner of Azkaban was a present, which I finished in half of a month. I didn’t read Goblet of Fire though.
My cousin, David bought Order of the Phoenix for me for my 13th birthday present. I literally kissed him and ran to my room. I finished it in four hours. Harry had cast his spell again. By the time I was 14 I practically had memorised every spell, curse, situation and character in the series.Another special thing happened on this day. I recieved detention on my birthday for doing homework in class. Deciding not to be bored I began to write. Then a child popped into my head. I wanted him to be a boy caught in an epic dilemma so much. Yet something in the back of my head kept saying something else.
. I educated myself about how stupid the Christian fundamentalists really were as well.
I then went to the Choir Academy of Harlem and participated in the Boys Choir for ninth grade. This was the period in my life when I wrote my longest piece of fiction ever. Harry Potter had taken over my life so largely that I noticed this “novel” of mine was basically a spin-off of the series. Not wanting to face the reality of having my trousers sued off me by a nice Scottish lady I put the story away.
During the summer months of 2005 I faced a big writer’s block. This writer’s block was filled with bits and pieces of things I wanted to turn into stories. I tried a Star Wars theme, a murder mystery and other stories which are all in the Recycle Bin on my computer. It wasn’t until the winter of 2006 that my main character became a female. I did research on Occult Mythology, Alchemy, Gaelic Languages, Classics and Symbolism. I created my own story. Original and raw. I made notes and spent long hours plotting my stories together on strips of paper, napkins if I had to. I recently became a vegetarian for healthful/moral/philosophical reasons. It’s going well. I haven’t cheated smile
STAY VEG!
Now, my novel is 18,884 words, 52 pages and eight chapters long. My plot cards say it will be 19 chapters. I have six books planned. I have other stories in the works as well. I have written 185 poems. My life has been eclectic, needless to say.
